After writing each piece the children's work can be displayed inside the classroom on a wall. I started stapling each piece over top of the older piece to create an instant portfolio. When we did our reflection pieces all we had to do was take them down and look back at writing progress over time.

- I have taught kindergarten for 13 years in the public school setting. I created the writing blog for a class as part of a professional development component but hope to have it be used by staff members as as a sounding board and creative ground for developing writing ideas in kindergarten. The class blog is for parents to be able to accesss information and activities happening weekly in class.
Open Response In Kindergarten
We use mini word walls and alphabet charts to convey messages and content.
Topic Writing
The adult underwriting is written on the child's writing after they have written and you conference.
Writing Checklists
Checklists can be filled out and stapled to children's work as you conference. They can be used to both assess and track a child's writing progress as it relates to the writing development continuum. Post it notes can be used at times for adult underwriting at conferences.

This child is working on a page that will go into a class book about caring for pets.
